Carved Prayer Idol Vintage Fiedorowicz Polish Figurine

We don't know much about the artist of this mid century modern piece, but have discovered a few interesting facts: Fiedorowicz was a Polish native, whose family fled from Poland to seek refuge, later returning with only a handful of belongings. His work was heavily centered on a deep, passionate faith. And he worked in collaboration with another artist by the name of S. Sitarski. Tougher they created excellent ensembles of nativity scenes and, later in life, a hundred or so Native American pieces sold to U.S reservations in the early 80's. 

This piece, like many others, is as precious as it is simple, featuring a narrowed figure in prayer with a brass halo. The top was given a hanging nook, and the artist's name scorched on the bottom. This is a humble piece worthy of a new home and to be handed down for generations.
